Doesn’t the wording on this baby shower invitation sound odd??

Okay, maybe it’s just me….but I got an invitation to my friend’s baby shower, and the wording sounds so strange to me. She decided to name the baby Logan, and the invitation says:

“Join us to celebrate the newest arrival
and help them prepare for Logan’s survival.”

Prepare for his survival?? Is it just me?? That sounds SO odd to me; who would say “we are preparing for our baby’s survival.”?

I just had to ask others opinions because another friend of ours said it didnt sound too weird…

It does sound odd (and almost a bit morbid) to me, as well.

sweetienat123 Says:

That does sound a little odd, as if there might be a medical problem with the baby. I’m sure they just meant to sound cute, and survival was the word they chose to make it rhyme.

elaeblue Says:

Oh gosh dont you think thats a mistake and they meant to say arrival?

karma_au_1984 Says:

That is odd but maybe they we’re just trying to be clever? Or maybe there are complications with the pregnancy or baby and this is there way of telling people there may be a problem? Who knows….but yeah it is weird.

jaclyn130 Says:

yes i dont like…

josiefene3 Says:

That is odd.

Kaliya is due July 9th! Says:

I personally think it sounds odd also. That is a weird thing to write in an invitation.

meadowgirl Says:

I think it’s a weird choice of words personally, i think its odd that you would refer to a childs blessing as “survival”. maybe they were trying to be neat by rhyming but i agree with you. definitely odd.

Amanda Says:

i probably wouldnt have said that! lol. but they were just trying to rhyme with ‘arrival’ and they got ’survival’ i suppose they mean like buying him lotsa cute outfits will make him ’survive’? i dont know.

i wouldnt have said that but oh well, lol

Ashley #3 due 24 Nov!! Says:

Indeed it is a rather awkward choice of wording but I bet they were hard pressed to find a word to rhyme with arrival.
Just hope that the baby is a better poet than the party host!! :) hehe

suma Says:

i would think that it was a mistake.

J Argasinski Says:

Iy sounds odd to me

Stacey M Says:

I agree with answer #1, it sounds morbid!
I mean, do they think something bad is going to happen at the birth???

miss_nikki Says:

Yeah, that’s a little bit on the morbid side…. but really, what else rhymes with arrival.

♥Lucky♥ 2nd Bun in the Oven Says:

It’s obvious she just wanted to rhyme “arrival” and “survival,” and she’s not very creative with words. Very poor choice of words.

Katie Says:

LOL. Yes, that does sound weird. It sounds like the parents and the baby are going to be stuck on a desert island/reality show, and before they leave, they’re going to receive things to help them on their quest.

And it also sounds weird how they changed the pronouns from “us” to “them”.

Dottie928 Says:

I agree with you- it does sound odd. I’d be afraid to put something like that on a baby shower invitation. Makes it sound like theres a severe medical problem. I think whomever wrote it had good intentions, but yeah, it doesn’t sound good

bailie28 Says:

no they made it rhyme for one..and a baby shower is for the baby’s survival…i mean its gifts for the baby right..i think its cute

asnicoll_05 Says:

Actually, even though it is phrased odd; I think it means that they want you to help contribute items (diapers, bottles etc) that will help Logan to survive! I just think they should’ve used a different word… maybe ‘beginning’ or something!? Anyway… no, you’re not crazy to take that so oddly!

RubiesNRubies Says:

Is he sick or something? It sounds really odd. They probably wanted it to sound ‘different’ and they did a good job at sounding different but not really in a good way…

Tyff Taff Says:

Kinda weired. I think they were just trying to be cute and it came out bad. lol

Blue Sage Badger Says:

OOOPPPPSSS!!! I would say that was a BIG slip of the pen.
I’m sure they meant arrival. I hope!

c'estmoi Says:

I don’t like it one bit!! It is morbid!

Maybe they meant to say prepare for Logan’s arrival and help his parents cope with no-sleep survival

Yeah, don’t like the wording they chose.

loveles35 Says:

It makes it sound like the baby will be struggling from the time of his birth. Very weird, at least that’s my opinion.

queenbee Says:

This does sound seriously weird. It looks like they were just trying to rhyme, but I wouldn’t want my baby shower invitation to say anything like that! If I was your friend I would be a little upset with whoever made the invitation.

Proud Mama of 3 Says:

Sounds like an error. Has she had problems during her pregnancy?

fyre_flit Says:

It sounds to me like someone trying to be “cute” in saying, please come to my shower and give me lots of gifts. As far as the morbidity, they are either too naive to understand or they think is funny. In which case they are sick and greedy. lol.

crissy mum of 6 Says:

thats very weird like if you dont go he wont survive strange

pretty in pink Says:

LOL yes it does sound very weird.

arnie Says:

It had to ryhme with arrival didn’t it???

19 Weeks & So excited! Says:

Yeah it is weird. They probably meant it to be funny, but i don’t think its right to be so airy fairy when it comes to negative things. Especially not with a newborn.

isaac's mommy Says:

um…yeah thats just a little weird and a tad creepy. Why would you put that on a baby shower invite? It just isnt worded right…sorry but i agree with you
